Appointment to Senior Practitioner (£33,136 - £35,229) is subject to fulfilling assessment requirements.

We have been told by parent carers, children and adults with a disability that joined up services across all ages would help to ensure consistency, clarity and ultimately better quality services and support to people living in Kirklees with a disability.

We are in the early stages of implementing an all age disability service, an innovative and exciting approach. Having recently co-located assessment teams, the aim is to reshape teams that currently work with children and adults with a disability to one that maximises the independence of children and young people in preparation for adult life here in Kirklees.

The Disabled Children’s Service wishes to recruit a Social Worker to their service. The service is responsible for providing support for families throughout Kirklees who have a child with a disability.  Comprehensive multi agency packages of support are assessed and put in place to enable children to achieve the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters framework.  The teams deal with high level and complex cases such as Child Protection and complex Child in Need.

You must hold an HCPC recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with the HCPC.

We offer an excellent package, including generous annual leave, excellent training and development, final salary pension scheme and work-life balance policies.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

In order to be short-listed for this job please demonstrate how you meet the  Person Checklist as detailed on the attached Job Description. CV’s will not be accepted.
