At Kirklees Council we are on an improvement journey. We’re building on our child-centered social work foundations to deliver good outcomes for children, young people and families who need our help.

Our last Ofsted monitoring visit in December 2018 highlighted the progress stating ‘the local authority has made significant progress in improving its initial response to children and young people who need help and protection. The visit highlighted immediate risks are appropriately assessed using a multi-agency approach and strengthened processes and effective management oversight is ensuring robust decision making and this is monitored routinely and challenged appropriately.

We’re on an ambitious journey and that’s where you come in. We are looking for experienced social workers who are passionate, talented and committed to join our Duty and Advice team. The Duty and Advice team is a front door service taking contacts from both members of the public and professionals. Your role would be to assess all contacts, give appropriate advice and make safe appropriate decisions regarding action needing to be undertaken and by whom, under management supervision.

This is an exciting time to be part of this team where we are building our multi -agency team working closely with colleagues in the police, health, education and other key agencies.

We are pioneering a Restorative Practice approach to social work which involves innovation with high quality relationships at the heart of our approach.  We have a bespoke learning and development offer at all levels of social work allowing you to access professional development enabling you to develop and progress your career and we are pleased social workers are choosing to make their career in Kirklees.  Our well established career structure also supports us to develop our own managers and leaders.

Due to internal staff progression we currently have vacancies for three permanent Social workers.

Join us, and make a real difference for children and young people in Kirklees
