Are you a newly qualified Social Worker looking for your first step in your Social Work career?

Working with people with a learning disability can be challenging but also very rewarding. Our Community Learning Disability team provides specialist assessments, interventions and advice to adults with learning disabilities and their families.

As a Council with its eye on the future we are investing in this important service and have created additional social work capacity in our teams. We are looking for newly qualified Social Workers to join these teams that are already transforming the lives of our service users.

With a strong focus on early help and improving outcomes for our service users, we are committed to supporting and developing our workforce to deliver the best possible services for people in Kirklees. We recognise the importance of, and are fully committed to, the ASYE. So, in partnership with Huddersfield University we will fully support you to complete this important year in your career. In addition to your development, we will provide you with an in depth induction, a protected caseload, a dedicated buddy and an experienced and accessible manager.

If you would like to discuss the opportunities we have, please email Mark Simpson, Team Manager, mark.simpson@kirklees.gov.uk or Liz Eastwood, Service Manager, elizabeth.eastwood@kirklees.gov.uk to book a call back.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a Council vehicle or your own car.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

In order to be shortlisted for this job please complete the attached shortlisting questionnaire. CV’s will not be accepted.
