We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to act as the single DOLS and MCA Professional Lead for Kirklees Council.  You will be joining Kirklees Council at a time of exciting development in which you will be expected to play a valued key role. You will also work with partner agencies and represent Kirklees Council regionally in relation to MCA/DOLs.

As the DOLS/MCA Lead, you will promote excellent practice standards across health and social care, providing leadership and professional wisdom to colleagues to safeguard some of society’s most vulnerable members. Using a role model approach you will support the professional development of Best Interest Assessors by providing advice, support, coaching and mentoring. 

Requirements for this job: 

  • Social Work or health qualified and relevant professional registration together with significant experience within this specialist field. BIA qualification desirable. 
  • Able to transfer knowledge and skills into new situations including leadership of the team and supporting partners.
  • Able to promote positive change, independence and wellbeing in accordance with assessed need.
  • Experience of supporting workers (including performance based supervision/ and or coaching)
  • Able to transfer knowledge and skills into new situations including leadership of the team and supporting partners.
  • IT skills to support accurate and timely case recording. 

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.
