We are a friendly village school for children between the ages of 4 and 10 yrs. We pride ourselves on our caring, hardworking and christian ethos. Our expectations of behaviour and respect are high and we provide an exciting curriculum to inspire a life-long love of learning.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Educational Teaching Assistant to work under the guidance of teaching staff to implement and oversee agreed work programmes with individual and small groups of students, in or out of classroom. The successful candidate will need to be able to work collaboratively and flexibly and build good relationships with both students and staff, demonstrating a respectful and caring attitude towards everyone in school. Experience of working with children in a school environment and having the appropriate literacy and numeracy skills to support students are essential. Any experience of supporting students with emotional, social and behavioural needs would be an advantage.

At Highburton C E (VC) First School, we believe in making the world a happier place to work and promote a work/life balance within our school. We do that by providing a package of flexible employee benefits, including:

  • An attractive pension scheme for both Teaching and Support staff.
  • Kirklees Employee Health Care, which also includes wellbeing support, physiotherapy.
  • Care First Advice - a 24/7 information and counselling service.
  • We are part of the Cycle to Work scheme. Tax free bikes and safety equipment can be payable by payroll deduction through a partnership with Cyclescheme.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are able to work as part of the support staff team.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
