Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Calderdale Music Trust. 

Are you an inspirational practitioner who can help build on the strengths of our vibrant Music Trust and drive the delivery of high quality music provision throughout Calderdale? 

Music is an important part of life and supports the promotion of health and wellbeing in relation to physical and psychological benefits. We are seeking an experienced, inspirational, and exceptional practitioner to increase capacity and sustainability within Calderdale’s musical community.

Calderdale Music Trust was established in May 2015 and is now supported by over 30 highly qualified specialist music tutors. We benefit from strong links with the Local Authority, and the local community, and offer a wide variety of music programmes for schools and individuals of all ages within the Calderdale region. This role, which is newly created, will further support the development of our music strategy which is a key strand of our provision.

The post holder, working closely with the CEO of the Music Trust, will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Trust’s core strategies with the ability to build, and maintain, successful relationships with stakeholders. You will work collaboratively to ensure the delivery, and promotion, of the Trust’s activities throughout Calderdale and the wider community.

The successful candidate will plan, co-ordinate, and deliver a high quality programme of activities throughout Calderdale, particularly in areas where there is currently little, or no, provision. You will be able to direct and inspire ensembles, organise large scale musical performances and lead on holiday workshops. Teaching will account for up to 80% of the role.

You will be able to provide, and co-ordinate, professional development opportunities for teachers, support staff and non-music specialists, and have up to date knowledge of developments in national strategies.

This position is full time (term time only plus 10 days) although a degree of flexibility is required to include some evening and weekend sessions and the precise configuration of hours to be worked is negotiable with the CEO of the Music Trust. You will be given the flexibility to manage your own workload and receive the whole hearted support of an experienced Trust Board.
