Gawber Primary school is an outstanding school searching for a new Deputy Headteacher. The present Headteacher is retiring at the end of the academic year and the new Head and Governing Body are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader who will help to build on the school’s strong foundations and lead us on to the next exciting part of our journey.

Gawber Primary School is small in numbers but big on ambition. We have an exceptional PTA that works tirelessly to support the school. Our budget is challenging. We have a strong and passionate staff team with low turnover. Our children experience a range of opportunities that extend beyond the National Curriculum such as Art Week, residential visits, drama activities and sports clubs. Within the context of outstanding we are not complacent and we are continually reviewing our practice. An area we are looking to develop next is the broader curriculum to ensure it is rich and meaningful enough for our children.

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Strongly committed to the family ethos of Gawber Primary School.
  • An outstanding classroom practitioner and a passionate leader in education.
  • Passionate about children achieving their full potential
  • A strong, decisive and innovative leader with the ability to build on the existing strengths of our outstanding school within a challenging budget.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to working collaboratively with all stakeholders.
  • Committed to working in partnership with other schools,
  • An astute leader who has the ability to horizon scan and make decisions in the best interests of the children at Gawber Primary school.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic with a sense of humour.

We can offer:

  • A welcoming school with children and families at the heart and much valued in the local community.
  • Children who are eager to learn, have high aspirations and enjoy their school life.
  • A highly skilled staff team passionate about providing the best opportunities for every child in school.
  • A governing body committed to provide support for the successful candidate to grow in the role and to lead the school into the future.
  • Families that actively support the school either individually or via our PTA
  • A governing body with experience and stability that are committed to ensuring the school further evolves and develops beyond outstanding
