To apply for this job you must be an employee of Kirklees Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date - and have successfully completed your probationary period.

Please note that if you work for an Academy you are not an employee of the Council.

Are you passionate and highly committed to supporting vulnerable rough sleepers to live safe, healthy lives?

Kirklees Council’s Housing Solutions Service delivers a range of services aimed at preventing and relieving homelessness for individuals and households across the district. The Rough Sleeping Initiative team was established within the service in 2019, to deliver proactive outreach and wraparound housing support for vulnerable rough sleepers with complex needs, developing and delivering personalised housing plans to prevent further rough sleeping.

The team has achieved significant success in tackling rough sleeping, with most entrenched rough sleepers now brought into accommodation. Principles of trauma-informed care, assertive outreach and partnership working are firmly embedded within the team.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-sufficient, and organised Team Manager to build on the team’s successes and drive forward a new phase of tenancy sustainment and homeless prevention. The Team Manager role is high profile, acting as an ambassador for the Council’s approach to rough sleeping, and leading on developing and maintaining multiple partnerships with key stakeholders including other Council departments, third sector partners, other public bodies and the Dept for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

You will manage a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the team delivers a high-quality service and adheres to all relevant legislation and protocols. You will need the confidence and skills to take difficult decisions and challenge partners and clients on occasion, in order to manage expectations and retain focus on the team’s agreed objectives.

The role is both challenging and rewarding – you will lead a highly motivated team to make a huge difference to people’s lives and will need the tenacity and perseverance required for working with customers with chaotic lifestyles. You will also need strengths in understanding safeguarding and vulnerability issues faced by most rough sleepers.

We offer a flexible working environment, supportive team and management and an ongoing commitment to support your personal and career development.

Our employees are at the very heart of the services we provide to the community, to help us achieve our ambitions, we want the best possible team. In return, we will make sure you are rewarded with a great range of staff benefits to support you in and out of work.
